CONSEQUENCE:
CTP/CYBEX has determined that the 1-inch-wide webbing strap used in the center front seatbelt adjuster to snugly adjust the shoulder harness straps onto the child may fray, reducing the strength of the seat belt. If the adjuster webbing becomes frayed or worn, which can reduce the strength of the webbing, the webbing could fail to properly restrain the occupant in the event of a vehicle crash increasing the occupant’s risk of injury.
An infant seat belt with insufficient strength may not properly restrain the occupant, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
REMEDY:
CTP/CYBEX is providing all owners of affected Aton, Aton 2, Aton M, Aton Q, and Cloud Q infant car seats manufactured between June 6, 2017 and
November 1, 2020 a remedy kit, free of charge, that includes a replacement central adjuster strap assembly and instructions for its installation. Cybex encourages owners to replace the webbing strap assembly currently on the infant car seat with the new one as soon as possible. Demonstration videos are available at https://www.cybex-online.com/en/us/safety-notices-recalls-us-infant-car-seat-webbing.html. The video shows the removal of the recalled central adjuster webbing and the installation of the replacement central adjuster strap assembly is included with the instructions.
On or about March 13, 2023, the remedy kit will be sent to registered owners or is available by contacting CYBEX at 1-877-242-5676, between 8 am and 5 pm ET, Monday through Friday.
