Katia Dubas from IMMI will discuss some of the basics of school bus safety and how it has evolved over time. Current buses are the safety mode of transit for children, but there are options to improve that safety even more. Katia will review the myths typically heard when it comes to incorporating seat belts on school buses. Katia will also provide resources and options to engage in discussions regarding adding seat belts to bus seats in your community.

Objectives:

At the conclusion of the activity, participants:

  • Describe the development of the school bus vehicle seat and the safety features in current bus seats.
  • Provide an overview of the increased safety for children transported in school buses.
  • Discuss the safety provided to school age children secured in seat belts and the review of the myths regarding adding seat belts to school buses.
  • Provide resources to promote seat adding seat belts to school bus vehicle seats.
