Choosing the Right Car Seat for a Child With Special Needs presentation will provide hospital, physician practice staff, and child passenger safety technicians with information to best support families when it comes to safe transport for any patients with special health care needs. Shayne will discuss the use of a conventional car seat, when appropriate. When a child’s health care needs require a more specialized restraint, it will be important to assist families in navigating the insurance approval process to have access to a car seat that is appropriate for a child’s physical and/or medical needs. Information will be provided on how to properly choose the correct specialized restraint based on the child’s medical condition(s). A review of available products will be available to inform attendees of available the options.
