National CPS Certification Program

The National Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification Training educates individuals who are interested in becoming a Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. Child Passenger Safety Technicians educate parents and caregivers on the safe transportation of children. Topics covered include: crash dynamics, relevant federal motor vehicle safety standards, vehicle seat belts and airbags, correct selection, use, and installation of child restraints, and safety of children school buses, 15-passenger vans, airplanes, and emergency vehicles. Successful completion of the training results in certification as a Child Passenger Safety Technician.

Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death and injury for children. Education and proper use of car seats, booster seats, seat belts, and vehicle safety systems can prevent injuries and save lives.

Registration for all certification courses is $95, excluding any applicable late fees. The minimum age requirement for CPS certification is 18 at the time the course starts.
