Dorel Juvenile Group (Dorel) is recalling certain Safety 1st onBoard 35 Secure Tech, Maxi-Cosi Coral XP, Maxi-Cosi Mico XP Max, Maxi-Cosi Mico XP, Maxi-Cosi Mico Luxe+, and Maxi-Cosi Infant Base child seats.
Recall Information
Dorel Juvenile Group (Dorel) is recalling certain Safety 1st onBoard 35 Secure Tech, Maxi-Cosi Coral XP, Maxi-Cosi Mico XP Max, Maxi-Cosi Mico XP, Maxi-Cosi Mico Luxe+, and Maxi-Cosi Infant Base child seats. The car seat lower anchors used to secure the child seat base may fail, allowing the child seat to
detach. Not maintaining a secure installation during a crash will increase the risk of injury to the child restraint occupant. As such, these child seats fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 213, “Child Restraint Systems.” Dorel has received no reports of injuries related to this non-compliance.
Dorel believes that the self-retracting lower anchor mechanism in the base of the recalled models can experience resistance during normal activation causing deformation of the feature that is intended to move the retractor mechanism into the fully locked position. Once the feature is deformed, the lower anchors in the base may not keep the child restraint securely installed to the vehicle during a crash.
The recall is related to the lower anchor connectors located on the car seat base. The lower anchor connector that is part of the recall is the push-on style attachment.
