Britax Child Safety, Inc., (Britax) is recalling certain One4Life and One4Life Slim ClickTight All-in-One car seats with model numbers E1D197A, E1D197B, E1D197F, and E1D197G. The labels and user guide incorrectly state that the maximum rear-facing lower anchor weight of 40 pounds. The car seats can be installed safely in the rear-facing mode by following the correct weight limit of 35 pounds for the lower anchor connectors. Car seat models manufactured between July 10, 2024 and July 15, 2024.

Recall Information

Britax Child Safety, Inc., during a routine audit of the One4Life Slim ClickTight All-in-One car seat, discovered that the label and user guide were incorrect and listed the maximum weight for rear-facing installation at 40 pounds when the correct maximum weight is instead 35 pounds for the rear-facing installation.

CONSEQUENCE: 

Britax has determined that the maximum rear-facing lower anchor weight calculation listed on the One4Life Slim label and user guide does not meet the requirement of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213. If the One4Life and One4Life Slim is installed rear-facing using the lower anchors with a child weighing over 35 pounds, it may not adequately protect the child from injury in the event of a crash. There have been no injuries reported related to this noncompliance.

REMEDY:

Britax will provide all owners of the One4Life Slim car seats manufactured between July 10, 2024, and July 12, 2024, a remedy kit, free of charge. The remedy kit will include a label to be inserted to correct the user guide, replacement labels to be placed over the original on-product labels, and an instruction sheet for application of the remedy labels.

  • Britax will send remedy kits to registered One4Life Slim owners via U.S. mail without any action of the owner.
  • Britax will send remedy kits to One4Life Slim owners that contact Britax via email, telephone, or web contact.
  • Britax will notify dealers and retailers with information that One4Life Slim owners need in order to receive remedy kits.

The original original One4Life Slim labels and user guides list a maximum rear-facing lower anchor weight limit of 40 lbs. The remedy label and user guide label state a maximum rear-facing lower anchor weight limit of 35 lbs. and emphasizes to the user that they should disregard any reference to 40 lbs. as the maximum weight for rear-facing installation with lower anchors.

        The recall notification letter and remedy kits is expected to be sent between December 18, 2024 and January 13, 2024.
