The NHTSA Region 2 Child Passenger Safety Conference is being hosted by New York and will be held in Lake Placid, NY from May 10th to the 12th, 2016. The conference offers educational workshops providing the opportunity for Child Passenger Safety Technicians and Instructors to develop their skills and knowledge. Conference attendees who participate in the entire conference will earn the 6 CPS CEUs needed for CPS re-certification.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is providing funding to cover a limited number of conference registration fees and overnight accommodations for active Pennsylvania Child Passenger Safety Technicians and Instructors. The scholarship will cover the $175.00 registration fee and conference hotel accommodations for 2 nights. All additional travel and lodging costs are the responsibility of the scholarship recipient. Active CPS Technicians and Instructors interested in applying for a scholarship must complete and submit the application form and a completed registration form, (found at http://www.safeny.ny.gov/CPS/AttendeeConferenceRegistrationForm.pdf), to the Traffic Injury Prevention Project (PA TIPP) by Friday, March 4th to be considered. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications will be scored by level of activity and the most active CPS Technicians will be awarded the scholarship and will be notified by email. Once you receive notification, you will need to reply to the email that you are accepting the scholarship and will be attendign the CPS Conference. PA TIPP will submit your registration form with payment. The list of recipients will be forwarded to New York and your name will be placed on a master bill for hotel accommodations. Scholarship recipients will be responsible for making their own hotel reservations among the four conference hotels.
NOTE: PA Department of Transportation employees and recipients of grant awards and/or contracts to perform behavioral highway safety programs from the PA Department of Transportation and/or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) are not eligible to apply for a scholarship award. Police departments that receive highway safety overtime enforcement grants are eligible to apply.
