New LATCH regulations will influence Consumer Report ratings

Consumer reports will take in to consideration the amount of time a seat can use LATCH vs. seat belts

Consumer Reports may give seats with a limited LATCH lifespan lower overall scores, according to their website. Heavier seats with higher weights will not be allowed to use their LATCH systems for the same length of time they could be restrained by a safety belt once the new regulations come into effect (to learn more about the new LATCH rules, click here). This would lower the seats' rating in the area of fit-to-vehicle assessment according to Consumer Reports.
