Voluntary Recall Issued by Manufacturer Orbit Baby

Recall affects only those Car Seat Bases G2 (Model No. ORB822000) manufactured between March 20, 2013 and July 20, 2013 with one of the following Batch Numbers: A0840, A0860 and A0880

Orbit Baby, Inc., is announcing a voluntary recall of the Orbit Baby Car Seat Base G2 (Model No. ORB822000). In some instances the StrongArm knob on the affected Car Seat Base G2, used to securely tighten the base into the vehicle, may detach or spin without tightening the base, preventing the installation of the Car Seat Base G2 in accordance with the instruction manual. The car seat bases affected were manufactured between March 20, 2013to July 20, 2013 with one of the following Batch Numbers: A0840, A0860 and A0880. No other base Batch Numbers are affected by this recall. The Infant Car Seat G2 is not affected by this recall and can continue to be used without the Car Seat Base G2 in accordance with the instruction manual.

Orbit Baby has not received any report of injuries. This is a voluntary recall that the company is conducting in the abundance of caution. All Orbit Baby car seats and car seat bases have consistently met and exceeded applicable government safety standards. This issue does not affect the performance of the Infant Car Seat G2 when used without the Car Seat Base G2. This issue also does not affect the performance of any Orbit Baby car seats if the Car Seat Base G2 is securely installed in accordance with the instruction manual (see link below). The StrongArm technology is an installation feature that facilitates the "60-second" installation of the car seat base by tightening the car seat base into the vehicle.

To address this issue, Orbit Baby will make a repair kit available. A consumer can confirm whether a Car Seat Base G2 (Model No. ORB822000) is affected by verifying the "Date Manufactured" (between March 20, 2013 and July 20, 2013) and the Batch Number (A0840, A0860 and A0880). The label with the "Date Manufactured" and Batch Number is found on the back of the base upright. To obtain a repair kit as soon as it is available or for any questions, consumers can contact Orbit Baby Customer Service at 1-877-672-2229. Any affected Car Seat Base G2 should not be returned to the retailer.
